Station 1 Apparatus

Engine 1

Engine 1 is a 2002 Pierce Lance Rescue Pumper. Engine 1 carries 750 gallons of water and 1000’ of 5” supply hose. It can flow water at a rate of 2000 gallons per minute. This engine is capable of carrying 4 firefighters and a D/O (Driver/Operator). It also carries extrication equipment for vehicle crashes as well as an Automatic External Defibrillator.

Tanker 1

Tanker 1 is 1986 Four Guys manufactured tanker. It was refurbished in 2000 at a cost of approximately $80,000. It has the capability of carrying 3000 gallons of water and pumping at a rate of 1500 gallons per minute. This truck carries 1200’ of 4” supply line. It is capable of carrying 5 firefighters and a D/O (driver/operator). It is first due at all structure fires in rural areas.

Engine 11

This is Engine 11, a 1995 Sutphen Rescue Pumper . Engine 11 is assigned to Station 1 on Michigan Ave. It pumps water at 1500 gallons per minute, has a 750 gallon tank and carries 800’ of 4” supply hose. It carries extrication equipment (jaws of life) and vehicle stabilization equipment. Engine 11 is currently a reserve engine, taking the place as a first due engine when another unit is out of service for repairs. This engine is capable of seating 5 firefighters and 1 D/O (driver/operator).

Brush 1

Brush 1 is a 2003 Ford 4X4 with a 300 GPM pump and 300 gal tank. This unit primarily is used for grass and brush fires. Brush 1 is used also for standing by at the scene of downed power lines and towing the Technical Rescue Trailer. Brush 1 is stationed at Station 1.

Utility 3

Utility 3 is a 2002 Ford Excursion.  It is used for miscellaneous duties and transport to trainings. 

Gator

 

A new purchase for the Fire and Police Departments is this John Deere 4 wheel drive Gator.  It will be used for Saline High School football game standbys.  The Gator will also be used for Fire and EMS emergencies in the parks.  It has a skid unit for fire suppression and a skid unit for medicals.  The skid units slide into the rear box of the Gator. 

Technical Rescue Trailer

The Technical Rescue Trailer was purchased in 2001 to carry wide range of tools and materials to be used by the department’s technical rescue team. It carries hand tools, saws, different size and types of wood for trench and structural collapse rescues. It also carries confined space tripod, ladders, ventilation fans, supplied breathing air unit and a multitude of other tools vital in special rescue situations.
