The Pittsfield Township Arson Investigation Team is a specifically trained unit comprised of Police and Fire Officers. The team is responsible for the investigation of suspicious fires, insurance fraud due to fire, and incendiary devices.
An investigation consists of
determining the cause and origin of suspicious fires, interviewing witnesses
and the collection and preservation of evidence that may lead to the
prosecution of an alleged arsonist. The arson investigation unit may also
prepare and execute search warrants, work in conjunction with the Michigan
State Police Fire Marshal’s Office, federal and state criminal investigation
units, and insurance investigators. Arson Investigation Team members are on
call 24 hours a day and will respond to the location of any suspicious fire
within Pittsfield Township.
