Treasurer's Office

While a treasurer is generally thought of as a person in charge of the funds of an institution, the Township has a much broader definition of this department. The Treasurer's Office is the first step in the cash flow process. Consisting of the Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer, Assistant to the Treasurer and two Department Assistants, this team is responsible for:

  • Collection of taxes (summer, winter, real, personal, industrial and commercial) for all entities affecting Pittsfield Township. This includes the school districts (Ann Arbor, Saline and Milan); public libraries (Ann Arbor and Saline); Washtenaw County; Washtenaw County Community College and Washtenaw Intermediate School District; county drains; State of Michigan and over 50 special assessment districts, including bond issues.
  • Maintenance for all Township designated bank accounts.
  • Management of Township investments and projection of responsible financial planning for Township funds.
  • Disbursement of collected revenues to various taxing entities (State, County, school districts, etc.). This office makes sure tax money gets to the right place for each assessment or tax.
  • Preparation of monthly and annual Treasurer's reports; delinquent property tax rolls for the Washtenaw County Treasurer, and submission of reports with the State of Michigan for industrial facilities (IFT) and commercial facilities (CFT).
  • Fulfillment of the purchasing functions for the Township offices.
  • Collection of water and rubbish payments, park and recreation fees, planning and building department fees, bail bond payments and all other payments made to the Township.

The computer system utilized in keeping the financial and tax records is specifically designed for municipalities. In the near future, additional features of the software will include a direct link with the Assessor's Office allowing record updates to be automatically completed in both databases. A tremendous amount of research had been completed before the purchase of this software to insure it would be capable of handling the record demands that could be expected in the growth of Pittsfield Township.

General inquires can be made by contacting (734) 822-3140 or e-mail: treasurer@pittsfieldtwp.org.

The creed of the Treasurer's Office is "customer satisfaction." The staff will do whatever is necessary to help residents understand their tax bills and help them through the billing process. As a part of the Township team, they have made a commitment to making this Department user-friendly. To be technologically in tune and committed to customer service is an excellent combination in a Township that is the third fastest growing community in Southeastern Michigan..
